Missions

For those who found themselves on the wrong side of the law and have found Jesus Christ. http://www.transformed.org.uk/

David Chawner has recently returned from the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand where he was co-manager of the chaplaincy programme and chaplain to England.  It wasn’t all plain sailing, but recognition of the importance of chaplaincy for the teams and their support staff as well as the travelling supporters grew during the tournament.

He was part of Engage which, as an organisation, helped churches to engage in the rugby community in a meaningful way during the World Cup.  The hope was that the value they brought to the event would open opportunities for ministry at future World Cups.  Before leaving New Zealand this hope was realised when the CEO of the 2015 World Cup expressed the desire to work with churches to provide this support when the event is held in England (and Wales).

A meeting will be held early in 2012 to discuss how this might happen.  Because of the links we have already established Baptist Men's Movement will be represented.  So watch this space.

Missionaries' Literature Association (MLA) is a resource for Christian workers overseas.

We live in a rapidly changing world and missionary personnel living abroad can quickly feel out of touch with UK culture, current events and politics, their professions and changing needs in churches.

Magazines and newspapers, on a regular basis, help to bridge the gap and keep them up to speed professionally and culturally, as well as giving a feeling of being closer to home.

MLA is run by volunteers and relies on your donations to ensure it can continue to post magazines out to missionaires.

If you want more information, contact Brian Martin the BMM MLA Administrator

Operation AgriOperation Agri (OA) is the overseas development arm of the Baptist Men's Movement. It is a charity which supports rural and urban development projects in four continents, attacking the basic causes of poverty amongst some of the least fortunate people in the world.

OA supports sustainable development work such as agricultural centres that train farmers to produce better crops, and irrigation schemes for rural communities.

OA provides essential equipment and resources for missionaries and development workers including 4WD vehicles, and equipment for training workshops.

OA helps vulnerable people regardless of religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds including helping women's community groups in Nepal to run local savings and credit schemes.

OA shows the love of jesus in action by supporting local Christian workers to make a difference in their communities.

Further information about the work of Operation Agri can be found on the
OA website.

Tools With A Mission

Tools With A Mission (TWAM) refurbishes used tools and sends them to many parts of the world where they can provide a livelihood for poor or stateless people. TWAM now regularly exports over a 100 tons of tools a year.
The work involved in sorting, repairing, refurbishing and storing tools is willingly undertaken by teams of volunteers and individual men in many parts of the country. Refurbished tools are despatched all over the world from TWAM's headquarters in Ipswich or from one of a growing number of regional depots.

Great care is taken to ensure that the requests received reflect a genuine need. In turn, TWAM tries to ensure that the tools reach their destination in good condition and in good time.

In these days of rising prices, a major part of TWAM's work is arranging finances to cover ongoing and rising shipping/carriage/transport costs.

Further information about the work of Tools With A Mission can be found on the
 TWAM website.
