2013 Conference

In 2012 BMM’s Conference was truly challenging with the Mission Impossible theme.  It appears we were well ahead of the celebrations recognising the 50th anniversary of James Bond and his seemingly impossible missions that we’ve seen on our screens over the years.  For those of you who were there you’ll remember the running theme of video clips that related to each session.

It’s good to be challenged and inspired.  It’s even better to get out and do something.

That’s why the 2013 BMM Conference has a theme of ‘Stepping Up, Stepping Out’.  Over the past two conferences we’ve seen new members join the movement and a re-launch of our regional strategy.  We now have 9 Regional Co-ordinators throughout the UK as the BMM seeks to step up in its mission to resource and support men.

We feel that now is the time to focus on putting mission into action, time to step up to the plate, step outside of our comfort zones, time for some of us to leave the safety of the ‘church compound’ and get ourselves out there into the ‘mission field’.  In order to do that, to be continually equipped for the work we’re called to we invite you to join us at Stepping Up, Stepping Out at The Derbyshire Hotel near Derby over the weekend Friday 15th to Sunday 17th March 2013.

During the weekend we’ll explore how we can step up and out together, break down barriers and build on the good work that many of our churches and groups are already active in.  We’ll also share with you some exciting plans for larger events throughout the UK that we hope to be a part of throughout 2013 and into 2014 with Groundbreakers.

We’re assembling another fantastic line-up of speakers, including Christian comedian Tony Vino, Groundbreakers pioneer Jonathan Hulton and Faith in Football, ex-professional footballer Linvoy Primus.

Pat Took, President of the Baptist Union, will be preaching at the Sunday worship and communion which will be the culmination of our time together and commissioning us as we go on our way.

BMMs Mission is to reach men in the UK today.  For some this might seem impossible hence the title.  We are assembling a fantastic line-up of speakers all of whom will provide fresh inspiration, excitement, discussion and empowerment to believe that our mission can be possible. 

The Bigger Weekend is from Friday March 23 to Sunday March 25 at Bosworth Hall in Market Bosworth, Warwickshire.  Building on the small steps taken last yaer we recognise the tremendous opportunity and challenge we have to reach men in the UK today.  This is our mission, it's the reason that the Baptist Men's Movement was created and the reason it still exists today.  For some the mission might seem impossible, hence the title of this year's Bigger Weekend.  Is our Mission truly Impossible in 21st Century Bristain?
